The modern solution for tooth restoration

The progress in dental implantology is continuous. With the introduction of new materials and advanced techniques, treatments are now more precise, safer, and offer long-term results.

For dental implants, materials like gold and stainless steel were initially used, which did not prove their biocompatibility or that they were ideal for integration into the bone. Nowadays, titanium is the main material, due to its ability to integrate with the bone (osseointegration). Furthermore, new materials such as ceramics are being researched and used, with the aim of further improving biocompatibility and aesthetics.
Implantology is evolving as a procedure as well. In the past, implant placement was more invasive and required a longer healing time.
Now, minimally invasive methods are used, such as computer-assisted implant placement (guided surgery) or atraumatic drills that allow for greater precision and less trauma. The function of osseointegration has also improved due to the evolution of the implant surface. Even impressions use scanners for recording the position of the implants and their prosthetic restoration.
Immediate implantation and immediate loading in certain cases dramatically reduce treatment time.
Implant treatment aims at prosthetic restoration, and thus the aesthetics and function of the gums, as well as bone regeneration for improving the long-term success of the implants, have gained greater roles.
As emphasized repeatedly, each case is examined separately, taking into account the needs and specific characteristics of the patient.
There are no age restrictions for implant placement, but the development of the jaws in young individuals must be taken into account.
Health problems and medications can affect the healing and integration of the implant. Autoimmune diseases, chemotherapy, immunosuppressants, bisphosphonates, lack of vitamin D and B, alcohol abuse, smoking, use of psychotropic drugs, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, or recent heart or circulatory surgery should be checked as potential delaying factors.
Good oral hygiene is essential for the success of implants and the prevention of peri-implantitis (inflammation of the gums around the implant).
Research into the development of even more biocompatible and durable materials, bone and gum regeneration, and minimal intervention (robotic technology) indicates future developments.
